Internacional (Marketwired, 08 de Agosto de 2013) See the Real Effects of Back-to-School Shopping in the 21st CenturySims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling, has released an infographic detailing the change in spending habits of families with students heading back-to-school in Fall 2013. As the second largest shopping season in the United States, shopping for new clothing and notepads has expanded to include electronic devices such as laptops, tablets and mobile phones. As much as 36 percent of back-to-school purchases are electronic devices.
This presents a challenge as new devices replace old ones. Electronic devices contain hazardous materials, which if sent to a landfill could contaminate drinking water supplies, harm the environment and impairs the ability to reuse the precious metals resources contained in the devices. The infographic explains the benefits of recycling consumer electronic devices and increases awareness of the options available to consumers.
"The needs of back-to-school shoppers continue to evolve as technology plays a key role in education," stated Steve Skurnac, President of Sims Recycling Solutions. "Increasing the volume of electronic devices recycled or sent for reuse not only protects the environment, but extends the useful life of electronic equipment and allows the precious metals to be recovered, a goal everyone should have."
