Internacional (Marketwired, 08 de Agosto de 2013) The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) has been granted funding to demonstrate the economic viability of a new process developed as the result of research on the transformation and reclamation of forest residues. "By supporting Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in the acquisition of leading-edge technology, the Government of Canada is once again demonstrating its commitment to investing in projects that help ensure economic growth," said Minister Lebel.
UQTR will use the financial assistance from Canada Economic Development to equip itself with a mobile pyrolyzer and acquire unique expertise in the area of residual forest biomass. This equipment, which uses a new process of thermochemical decomposition known as pyrolysis, will make it possible to give new life to residues from Haut-Saint-Maurice forests and industries and thereby strengthen the region's economy.
Information:
This assistance, granted in the form of a $630,000 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
